About Harold Foote Gosnell
Harold Foote Gosnell (1896–1997) was an American political scientist renowned for pioneering the use of psychological and statistical methods to study voting behavior and political participation. University of Chicago Library. His notable works include Non-Voting: Causes and Methods of Control (1924, with Charles E. Merriam), Getting Out the Vote (1927), Negro Politicians (1935, winner of the first Anisfield-Wolf Book Award), and Machine Politics: Chicago Model (1937). He taught at the University of Chicago, served in the U.S. federal government, and later at American and Howard Universities, receiving the Charles E.
