Hank Phillippi Ryan is an American crime fiction author and award-winning television journalist. She has won multiple Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards, as well as the Mary Higgins Clark Award. Her standalone thrillers and series mysteries are known for their fast-paced plotting, strong female protagonists, and insider details from her career in broadcast news. Ryan worked for decades as an investigative reporter at WHDH-TV in Boston, and her journalism career directly informs the media-world settings of many of her novels. Her Charlotte McNally series features a television investigative journalist, while her Jane Ryland series features a newspaper reporter. She won the Agatha Award for Best Contemporary Novel for The Wrong Girl (2013) and Truth Be Told (2014), and has been a finalist numerous additional times. Ryan is also a committed advocate for literacy and serves on the board of Sisters in Crime.
