Hanif Kureishi

Hanif Kureishi (born 1954) is a British playwright, screenwriter, and novelist best known for his Oscar-nominated screenplay for My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) and the Whitbread Award-winning novel The Buddha of Suburbia (1990). Other notable works include the novel Intimacy (1998) and screenplays like Sammy and Rosie Get Laid (1987); he has received the CBE in 2008, PEN/Pinter Prize, and acclaim as one of Britain's greatest post-1945 writers.
