About Han Suyin

Han Suyin (1917-2012) was a Chinese-born Eurasian physician and author best known for her semi-autobiographical novel A Many-Splendoured Thing (1952), which won the Anisfield-Wolf Award and inspired the film Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing. Born in Xinyang, China, to a Chinese father and Belgian mother, she wrote extensively on modern China, including her autobiographical series starting with The Crippled Tree (1965), and was a vocal supporter of the Chinese Communist Revolution.
