About Halldór Laxness
Halldór Laxness (1902–1998) was an Icelandic novelist best known for renewing the great narrative art of Iceland through his epic works. His notable novels include Independent People (1934–35), World Light (1937–40), and Iceland's Bell (1943–46), which blend social critique with Icelandic life and history. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1955.
