About H. S. Bhabra
Hargurchet Singh Bhabra (1955–2000) was a British Asian writer and broadcaster, born in Mumbai, India, who moved to England as a child and later settled in Canada. His debut novel Gestures (1986) won the Betty Trask Award, and he published thrillers under pseudonyms A.M. Kabal and John Ford, also receiving the Fulbright Chandler Fellowship in Spy and Detective Fiction Writing. He taught creative writing and co-hosted the TVO book show Imprint before dying by suicide in Toronto amid struggles with writer's block.
