About Guus Kuijer

Guus Kuijer is a Dutch author born on 1 August 1942 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He worked as a primary school teacher from 1967 to 1973 before becoming a full-time writer, publishing his first children's book Met de poppen gooien in 1975, the start of the popular Madelief series. He is renowned for his contributions to children's and young adult literature, winning the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2012.
