About Gunnar Myrdal

Karl Gunnar Myrdal (1898-1987) was a Swedish economist and sociologist best known for his seminal works An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy (1944), which influenced the U.S. Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education decision, and Asian Drama: An Inquiry into the Poverty of Nations (1968). He shared the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1974 with Friedrich Hayek for pioneering work in monetary theory and analysis of economic, social, and institutional interdependence.
