About Guillermo Cabrera Infante

Guillermo Cabrera Infante (1929-2005) was a Cuban novelist, essayist, translator, screenwriter, and critic born in Gibara, Cuba. He initially supported the Cuban Revolution but went into exile in London in 1965 after falling out with the Castro regime, becoming one of its most prominent critics. Renowned for his experimental, Joycean style capturing Havana's colloquial speech, he won the prestigious Cervantes Prize in 1997.
