Giosuè Carducci

Giosuè Carducci (1835-1907) was an Italian poet, writer, literary critic, and teacher, born in Valdicastello, Tuscany, who became the official national poet of modern Italy. He is best known for his poetry collections like Odi barbare (Barbarian Odes), Rime nuove, and the provocative Inno a Satana, blending classical forms with themes of liberty and anticlericalism, and was the first Italian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1906 for his lyrical force and creative energy.
