About Georges Duhamel

Georges Duhamel (1884-1966) was a French author and physician who served as an army surgeon during World War I, inspiring his acclaimed war books Vie des martyrs (1917) and Civilisation (1918, Prix Goncourt winner). He is most noted for his novel cycles Vie et aventures de Salavin (1920–1932) and Chronique des Pasquier (1933–1944), and was elected to the Académie française in 1935.
