About George F. Kennan
George F. Kennan (1904-2005) was an American diplomat and historian best known for authoring the "Long Telegram" and "X Article," which articulated the U.S. policy of containment against Soviet expansion during the Cold War, and for his role in shaping the Marshall Plan. His notable works include American Diplomacy, 1900-1950 (1951), Russia Leaves the War (1956), and Memoirs, 1925-1950 (1967), for which he won two Pulitzer Prizes and two National Book Awards, among other honors like the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
