About George Bowering
George Bowering (born December 1, 1935, in Penticton, British Columbia) is a prolific Canadian author renowned for his contributions to poetry and fiction, including notable works such as the Governor General's Award-winning poetry collections Rocky Mountain Foot and The Gangs of Kosmos (1969) and the novel Burning Water (1980). He achieved the rare distinction of winning the Governor General's Literary Award in both poetry and fiction, served as Canada's first Parliamentary Poet Laureate (2002-2004), and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia.
