Gen Getsu

Gen Getsu (玄月), born February 10, 1965, in Osaka, Japan, is a Zainichi Korean novelist and professor at Osaka University of Arts, best known for his portrayals of Korean-Japanese life in urban slums. He achieved literary prominence by winning the 122nd Akutagawa Prize in 2000 for his novel _Kage no sumika_ (Lair in the Shade), following nominations for earlier works like \"Oppai\" and other prizes such as the Kobe Navir Literature Prize. His fiction often explores themes of ethnic identity, diaspora, violence, and community among Zainichi Koreans in Osaka, and he also operates a literary bar called \"Liseur.\".
