About François Mauriac

François Mauriac (1885-1970) was a French novelist, dramatist, critic, poet, and journalist born in Bordeaux. Best known for psychological novels exploring sin, grace, and human struggle within a Catholic framework, his notable works include Thérèse Desqueyroux and Vipers' Tangle. He was elected to the Académie française in 1933 and won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1952 for the deep spiritual insight in his novels.
