Fox Butterfield (born July 8, 1939) is an American journalist and author best known for his 30-year career at The New York Times, where he served as bureau chief in Saigon, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing (the first post-1949 correspondent), and Boston, and contributed to the Pulitzer Prize-winning Pentagon Papers publication in 1971.
