About Fonda Lee

Fonda Lee is a Canadian-American author of science fiction and fantasy known for her Green Bone Saga—a trilogy about rival clans of jade-wielding warriors in a city-state inspired by Hong Kong. She won the Locus Award for Best Fantasy Novel for Jade Legacy (2022) and the World Fantasy Award (tie) for Best Novel for Jade City (2018). Born in Canada, Lee studied business and worked in the pharmaceutical industry before becoming a full-time author. The Green Bone Saga, which includes Jade City, Jade War, and Jade Legacy, is celebrated for its intricate world-building, Godfather-esque family dynamics, and the genre-defining use of a secondary world inspired by East Asian culture. She has won the Aurora Award (Canada's top SF prize) multiple times and the World Fantasy Award. Lee lives in Portland, Oregon.
