About Fernanda Melchor
Fernanda Melchor (born 1982 in Boca del Río, Veracruz, Mexico) is a Mexican writer renowned for her novels exploring violence, poverty, and superstition in her home state, including the acclaimed Hurricane Season (2017), shortlisted for the 2020 International Booker Prize, and Páradais (2021). She began her career as a journalist, publishing nonfiction like Aquí no es Miami (2013), and has won major awards such as the 2019 Anna Seghers Prize, the 2024 Ryszard Kapuściński Award, and the 2019 International Literature Award.
