Evaline Ness

Evaline Ness (1911-1986) was an American author and illustrator of children's books, best known for winning the 1967 Caldecott Medal for Sam, Bangs and Moonshine, which she also wrote, and receiving three consecutive Caldecott Honors from 1963-1965 for All in the Morning Early, A Pocketful of Cricket, and Tom Tit Tot. She illustrated over 30 books using diverse media like woodcuts and collage, including notable works such as Scott O'Dell's Island of the Blue Dolphins and Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain series, and was the U.S. nominee for the 1972 Hans Christian Andersen Award.
