About Eugene O'Neill

Eugene O'Neill (1888-1953) was an American playwright whose works introduced realism to U.S. theater, influenced by Chekhov, Ibsen, and Strindberg. His notable plays include Beyond the Horizon, Anna Christie, Strange Interlude, and his masterpiece Long Day's Journey into Night, widely regarded as one of the finest American plays of the 20th century. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1936 and was the only playwright to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Drama.
