Eugene D. Genovese

Eugene Dominic Genovese (1930-2012) was an American historian renowned for his Marxist analysis of slavery and the American South, most notably in his Bancroft Prize-winning book Roll, Jordan, Roll: The World the Slaves Made (1974), which examined paternalistic relations between planters and slaves.
