About Esther Forbes

Esther Louise Forbes (1891-1967) was an American novelist, historian, and children's writer best known for her historical works Paul Revere and the World He Lived In (1942), which won the Pulitzer Prize for History, and Johnny Tremain (1943), a young adult novel about the American Revolution that earned the Newbery Medal. Born in Westborough, Massachusetts, she was the first woman elected to the American Antiquarian Society and received numerous accolades for her meticulous research and engaging storytelling.
