About Esi Edugyan

Esi Edugyan is a Canadian novelist born in Calgary in 1978. Her second novel Half-Blood Blues (2011) won the Giller Prize and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Washington Black (2018) won the Giller Prize for the second time and was shortlisted for the Booker Prize 2018. Edugyan studied at the University of Victoria and the Johns Hopkins Writing Seminars. Her work often explores Black history and music.
