Erik Axel Karlfeldt

Erik Axel Karlfeldt (1864-1931) was a Swedish poet born in Karlbo, Dalarna, who studied at Uppsala University and rose to prominence in Swedish literature through his symbolist poetry infused with regional themes. He served as a member and permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, contributing to the Nobel Institute and Committee. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature posthumously in 1931 after declining it in 1919 due to his Academy position, his notable works include Fridolins visor (1898), Fridolins lustgård (1901), and Hösthorn (1927).
