Eric Linklater

Eric Robert Russell Linklater (1899–1974) was a prolific Welsh-born Scottish author known for his satirical novels, children's fantasy, military histories, and travel writing. His most notable works include the Carnegie Medal-winning children's book The Wind on the Moon (1944), the picaresque Juan in America (1931), and the WWII satire Private Angelo (1946), with major achievements such as appointment as CBE in 1954 and Rector of Aberdeen University (1945–1948).
