Emmanuel Roblès (1914-1995) was a French author and playwright born in Oran, Algeria, known for novels and plays exploring themes of resistance amid war and political strife in Europe and North Africa. His most notable works include the Prix Femina-winning novel Les Hauteurs de la ville (1948), the internationally successful play Montserrat (1948), and Cela s'appelle l'aurore (1952); he was elected to the Académie Goncourt in 1973.
