Ellis Peters (born Edith Mary Pargeter, 1913–1995) was an English novelist renowned for her historical mystery series, particularly the Brother Cadfael Chronicles featuring a 12th-century Welsh Benedictine monk solving crimes in Shrewsbury Abbey, and the George Felse detective series.
