About Ellis Peters

Ellis Peters (born Edith Mary Pargeter, 1913–1995) was an English novelist renowned for her historical mystery series, particularly the Brother Cadfael Chronicles featuring a 12th-century Welsh Benedictine monk solving crimes in Shrewsbury Abbey, and the George Felse detective series. She received major awards including the Edgar Award for Death and the Joyful Woman (1963), CWA Silver Dagger for Monk's Hood (1980), Cartier Diamond Dagger for lifetime achievement (1993), and OBE in 1994.Edith Pargeter
