Elizabeth Jolley

Elizabeth Jolley (1923-2007), a British-born Australian novelist and short-story writer, is renowned for her dryly comic explorations of eccentric characters, women's relationships, loneliness, and cultural contrasts between Europe and Australia. Notable works include The Well (1986, Miles Franklin Award), Mr Scobie's Riddle (1983, Age Book of the Year), and Milk and Honey (1984, Christina Stead Prize), earning her the Officer of the Order of Australia for literature.Curtin University
