Elizabeth Gray Vining

Elizabeth Gray Vining (1902–1999) was an American author and librarian best known for her children's book Adam of the Road, which won the Newbery Medal in 1943, and for tutoring Crown Prince Akihito of Japan from 1946 to 1950, chronicled in her memoir Windows for the Crown Prince.
