About Elizabeth Arnold

Elizabeth Arnold (1958–2024) was an American poet and professor at the University of Maryland. She earned a PhD from the University of Chicago, where she discovered and edited Mina Loy's lost novel Insel, and authored six books of poetry including The Reef (1999), Civilization (2006), Effacement (2010), Life (2014), Skeleton Coast (2017), and Wave House (2023). Her awards include the Whiting Writers' Award, Bunting Fellowship, and Lannan Fellowship, and her poems appeared in The Paris Review, Poetry, and The Nation.
