About Elisa Gonzalez

Elisa Gonzalez is an American poet, essayist, and fiction writer born in the late 1990s or early 2000s in Columbus, Ohio, to a Puerto Rican father; she began writing poetry at age 18 while in college at Yale University (BA) and later earned an MFA from NYU. Her debut poetry collection Grand Tour (2023) received widespread acclaim, including praise from Louise Glück, and she has published in The New Yorker and The Paris Review; notable achievements include the 2020 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writer’s Award, 2024 Whiting Award for Poetry, and fellowships from Fulbright, Bread Loaf, and others. She lives in New York City and has upcoming novel The Awakenings and nonfiction Strangers on Earth, both from FSG.
