About Elias Canetti

Elias Canetti (1905-1994) was a Bulgarian-born writer who became a British citizen in 1952 and is known as a modernist novelist, playwright, memoirist, and nonfiction author. 1981 Nobel Prize in Literature. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1981 for writings marked by a broad outlook, a wealth of ideas, and artistic power, with major works including the novel Auto-da-Fé, the nonfiction Crowds and Power, and a memoir trilogy. Primarily writing in German, he explored themes of crowd behavior, totalitarianism, and human psychology.Leo Baeck Institute.
