About Edward J. Larson

Edward J. Larson (born 1953) is an American historian and legal scholar best known for his Pulitzer Prize-winning book Summer for the Gods: The Scopes Trial and America's Continuing Debate Over Science and Religion (1997), along with other notable works like A Magnificent Catastrophe (2007) and Evolution's Workshop (2001) exploring American history, science, religion, and law. He holds the Hugh & Hazel Darling Chair in Law at Pepperdine University, having previously taught at the University of Georgia, and has received awards including the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for History, the 2017 NCSE Friend of Darwin Award, and a finalist spot in the 2014 California Book Awards.
