About Edward Bok
Edward William Bok (1863-1930), a Dutch-born American editor and author, served as editor of the Ladies' Home Journal for 30 years (1889-1919), transforming it into the world's first million-subscriber magazine through progressive articles on social issues, public health, and domestic architecture. His notable works include his Pulitzer Prize-winning autobiography The Americanization of Edward Bok (1920), along with advice books like Successward (1895) and The Young Man in Business (1895); he also pioneered affordable homebuilding plans, influenced American suburbs, and created Bok Tower Gardens.
