Edmonde Charles-Roux

Edmonde Charles-Roux (1920-2016) was a French novelist, journalist, and former editor-in-chief of French Vogue, renowned for her debut novel Oublier Palerme (1966), which won the prestigious Prix Goncourt, and her biography Chanel exploring Coco Chanel's life. A World War II Resistance fighter who served as a nurse and received the Croix de Guerre and Legion of Honour, she later became a member and president of the Académie Goncourt. Her works often blended fiction with biographical elements, including adaptations for ballets and books on figures like Isabelle Eberhardt.
