Edith Wharton

Edith Wharton (1862-1937), an American novelist born in New York City, is renowned for her incisive portrayals of upper-class society in novels such as The Age of Innocence, The House of Mirth, and Ethan Frome. She achieved major literary success as the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1921 for The Age of Innocence.
