E. Annie Proulx

E. Annie Proulx (born Edna Annie Proulx; August 22, 1935) is an American author renowned for her novels and short stories depicting rural life with dark humor and regional authenticity. Her notable works include the Pulitzer and National Book Award-winning novel The Shipping News (1993), PEN/Faulkner Award winner Postcards (1992), and the short story "Brokeback Mountain" (1997), adapted into an Academy Award-winning film. She has received major honors such as the Library of Congress Prize for American Fiction (2018) and the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters (2017).
