Donnetta Lavinia Grays is an American playwright, actor, and screenwriter born in 1977 in Panama City, Panama, and based in Columbia, South Carolina. She is best known for her plays including Where We Stand (Lucille Lortel, Drama League, and AUDELCO nominee), Last Night and the Night Before (Todd McNerney Award winner), and Kudzu Calling, and has received the Whiting Award for Drama, Helen Merrill Playwright Award, and Lilly Award. She has also staffed on TV series such as Y: The Last Man and Joe vs. Carole, and penned the upcoming Otis Redding biopic Hard to Handle.
