About Dolores Kendrick

Dolores Kendrick (1927-2017) was an American poet born in Washington, D.C. best known for her collection The Women of Plums: Poems in the Voices of Slave Women, which won the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, and for serving as Poet Laureate of the District of Columbia from 1999 until her death.
