About Derek Walcott

Derek Walcott (1930–2017) was a Saint Lucian poet and playwright who won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1992. He won the T.S. Eliot Prize in 2010 for White Egrets. His poetry synthesises European literary tradition with Caribbean oral culture and landscape. He was one of the defining literary voices of the twentieth century.
