About David Francis
David Francis (born November 12, 1958, in Mornington, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian novelist, lawyer, and academic known for his novels including Agapanthus Tango (published as The Great Inland Sea in the US), Stray Dog Winter (named Book of the Year by The Advocate, American Library Association Barbara Gittings Literature Award winner, Lambda Literary Award finalist), Wedding Bush Road, and Trick Season. A former solicitor at Allens and foreign lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright, he has taught creative writing at Occidental College and USC, received fellowships like the Australian Literature Fund to Paris, and held leadership roles in PEN America and PEN International. His work has been translated into multiple languages, optioned for film/TV, and published in outlets like Harvard Review, Sydney Morning Herald, and Los Angeles Times.
