David E. Hoffman

David E. Hoffman (born November 14, 1953) is an American journalist and author best known for his non-fiction books on Russia and the Cold War, including The Oligarchs (2002), The Dead Hand (2009), The Billion Dollar Spy (2015), and Give Me Liberty (2022). He spent much of his career at The Washington Post as Moscow bureau chief, foreign editor, and contributing editor, winning the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction in 2010 for The Dead Hand and the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing in 2024 for his "Annals of Autocracy" series.
