About Danai Gurira

Danai Gurira is a Zimbabwean-American playwright, actress, and activist born in 1978 in Grinnell, Iowa. She is best known for her plays including the Obie Award-winning In the Continuum and the Tony-nominated Eclipsed, as well as her acting roles as Michonne in The Walking Dead and Okoye in the Black Panther films. She serves as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and founded Almasi Arts to support arts education in Zimbabwe.
