About Dan Fagin
Dan Fagin is an American journalist and science writer, and professor of journalism at New York University, where he directs the Science, Health and Environmental Reporting Program. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and worked as a science reporter at Newsday for many years. His book Toms River: A Story of Science and Salvation (2013) investigated a cluster of childhood cancers in Toms River, New Jersey, tracing decades of corporate pollution and the long legal battle for accountability. The book won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction and was praised for its rigorous science journalism woven with compelling human narrative. Fagin is also co-author of Toxic Deception: How the Chemical Industry Manipulates Science and Law to Protect Its Products (1996). His work has been instrumental in advancing science and environmental journalism education.
