About Dale Maharidge and Michael Williamson

Dale Maharidge (born 1956) is an American journalist and author best known for his nonfiction collaborations with photographer Michael Williamson, including Journey to Nowhere: The Saga of the New Underclass (1985), which inspired Bruce Springsteen songs, and And Their Children After Them (1989), winner of the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction Pulitzer.org. A professor of journalism at Columbia University, he has authored numerous books on working-class America and social issues.
