About Dal Stivens

Dal Stivens (1911-1997) was an Australian author renowned for his short stories and novels depicting bush life with humor and irony, including notable works like the Miles Franklin Award-winning novel A Horse of Air (1970) and collections such as The Tramp and Other Stories (1936) and The Unicorn and Other Tales (1976). He served as founding president of the Australian Society of Authors in 1963, won the Patrick White Award in 1981, and received a Special Achievement Award in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards in 1994.
