Dael Orlandersmith

Dael Orlandersmith (born 1960) is an American actress, poet, and playwright from New York City's East Harlem. Known for her Obie Award-winning play Beauty's Daughter and the Pulitzer Prize finalist Yellowman (published by Vintage Books), her works explore themes of trauma, race, and family. She has received numerous accolades including the Whiting Award, Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and Guggenheim Fellowship.
