Cynthia Harnett

Cynthia Harnett (1893–1981) was an English author and illustrator best known for her children's historical fiction, particularly six novels featuring ordinary teenagers in significant 15th-century English events, including the Carnegie Medal-winning The Wool-Pack (1951) and runner-up The Load of Unicorn (1959). Other notable works include Ring Out Bow Bells! (1953), Stars of Fortune (1956), and The Writing on the Hearth (1971). Her books are praised for meticulous historical research, vivid evocations of the past, and her own illustrations.
