About Colin Bateman

Colin Bateman (born June 13, 1962) is a Northern Irish novelist, screenwriter, and former journalist best known for his debut novel Divorcing Jack, which won the Betty Trask Award in 1994 and was adapted into a film, as well as the Murphy's Law series adapted into a popular BBC television show starring James Nesbitt. His works often feature dark comedy, crime, and thriller elements, including the semi-autobiographical Dan Starkey series and screenplays for films like The Journey and Driven. He continues to write, with recent projects including Killing Castro (2025) Kids Kiddle, Famous Birthdays.
