About Christopher Reid

Christopher John Reid (born 13 May 1949) is a British poet, essayist, cartoonist, and writer best known for his association with Martian poetry and notable works including A Scattering (2009), a tribute to his late wife that won the Costa Book of the Year Award—the first poet to do so since Seamus Heaney in 1999—and Arcadia (1979), which earned the Somerset Maugham Award and Hawthornden Prize. He served as poetry editor at Faber and Faber, editing works by Ted Hughes and Seamus Heaney, and as Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Hull.
